Empowering Children's Lives Through the Great Outdoors! Wilderness Way is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Outdoor Instructor to join our dynamic Outdoor Team. This exciting role combines adventure, leadership, and meaningful impact, helping children overcome challenges and develop lifelong skills through tailored outdoor experiences.

The Role

As an Outdoor Instructor, you'll lead engaging and developmental outdoor programmes for children impacted by trauma, giving opportunities to introduce children to outdoor activities that meet their therapeutic and educational needs. From day trips to remote expeditions across the North of England, you'll work collaboratively with Care Teams, Education, and Health & Well-being colleagues to deliver high-quality, child-focused activities that are both safe and transformative.

What You'll Do

  • Design and deliver tailored outdoor activities for small groups, combining fun, challenge, and skill-building.
  • Act as a role model, ensuring safety and safeguarding at every step.
  • Collaborate with care teams to create integrated development plans for children.
  • Manage your caseload and time effectively, balancing a busy schedule.
  • Play a key role in maintaining equipment, managing risks, and adhering to AALA standards.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking resilient, enthusiastic, and skilled outdoor leaders with:

Qualifications:

  • Two-day Outdoor First Aid Certificate.
  • Full driving licence and ability to travel across the North of England.
  • At least three of the following:
  • Summer Mountain Leader.
  • Rock Climbing Instructor (SPA).
  • British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Leader or equivalent.
  • PaddleUK Paddlesport Leader Award.
  • White-water safety and rescue qualification.

Experience:

  • Planning and delivering outdoor activities for children.
  • Supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs is desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong communication, IT proficiency, and organisational abilities.
  • A passion for helping children develop meaningful, transferable life skills.
