I am a 39 year old male with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy and I am a full-time wheelchair user. I live at home with my parents and have my own area of the house. My family run a care company to look after me. The role of personal carer is interesting and rewarding, you will assist in all aspects of my care.
Responsibilities:
- Interacting with me, promoting independence and freedom of choice.
- Driving me to destinations in my own vehicle.
- Sitting with the service user to assist with creative tasks and ensure their well-being.
- Supporting with special administration of medication (full training given).
- Meeting nutrition and fluid intake needs.
- Monitoring to ensure well-being.
- General housework and housekeeping.
The nature of the work requires the applicant to have full physical fitness. Carers will be required to work 7 days a week on a rota basis, averaging 24 hours per week.
