Location: Glasgow — field-based, with travel to client sites across Central Scotland (healthcare, education and public sector premises). A Tech Heating Ltd is based in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire

Salary: £34,900 – £38,500 per annum, dependent on experience

Hours: Full-time, Permanent, Field-based — 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday (occasional additional hours may be required to meet project deadlines)

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out high integrity welding on pressure-bearing pipework (LTHW, MTHW, steam and associated heating distribution systems) for commercial mechanical and HVAC installations
• Weld to a qualified Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), using MMA, TIG and/or MIG processes as appropriate to the joint and material
• Fabricate and install pipework, including flue and boiler connections, in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications
• Ensure all welds meet required quality standards and comply with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000
• Support and cooperate with non-destructive testing (NDT) processes (e.g. radiography, ultrasonic testing) to verify weld integrity
• Read and interpret technical drawings, isometrics and specifications accurately
• Liaise with site engineers, project managers and other trades to ensure work is completed to programme
• Work safely across live commercial sites, including healthcare, education and public sector premises, adhering to site-specific health & safety requirements
• Maintain accurate records of welding activity, including welder qualification and procedure compliance, as required

Qualifications Needed

• Coded welder qualification to BS EN ISO 9606-1 and/or ASME IX, covering pipe welding positions up to 6G
• Recognised trade qualification in welding/fabrication (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent international qualification)
• CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification (or willingness to obtain prior to commencing UK site work)

Experience Needed

• Minimum of 3 years' related on-the-job experience in high integrity pipe welding on pressure-bearing pipework systems
• Experience gained within commercial heating, HVAC, mechanical services, oil & gas, or comparable industrial pipework environments is preferred
• General structural, decorative or non-pressure fabrication welding experience alone does not meet the requirements of this role

Skills needed

• Proficient in MMA, TIG and MIG welding techniques applied to pipework
• Strong ability to read and work from engineering/technical drawings
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Good problem-solving skills for on-site fabrication challenges
• Effective communication and ability to work well within a site team
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload on site
