A qualified C&I Engineer, Controls Instrumentation Engineer is required for our top tier COMAH specialist engineering client based in Hampshire. This is a challenging role that would suit an experienced Controls and Instrumentation engineer or C&I technician with good controls systems, instrumentation, control panels design experience within the large production plant industries such as the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, live process plant, nuclear, hazardous live sites and refinery process plant industries. The purpose of this role is to manage and coordinate the maintenance, design and improvement of process control systems and safety systems for the plant.
The ideal C&I engineer, Controls and Instrumentation engineer candidate will have the following skills and experience;
- Good controls systems experience and experience of the engineering required in the control & instrumentation design standards of process plant / live plant industry
- Controls Engineering qualifications or Instrument qualifications and memberships (apprenticeship trained, HNC in Electrical, Electrical or Instrument & Control Engineering) with a good working knowledge in instrumentation, instrumentation control, control and instrumentation design, safety instrumented systems design
- Experience knowledge of Functional Safety Standards IEC 61508, 61511 and Explosive Atmospheres BS EN 60079 is desirable
- Hold a current valid UK driving licence and have your own vehicle to get to remote site daily
Key responsibilities of the controls and instrumentation design engineer include;
- Maintain and improve the process control systems and safety systems for efficient and safe plant operation
- Act as Lead Engineer ensuring site safety. Site maintenance and support and site development and provide good leadership and supervision to the C&I Technicians.
- Develop project work scopes. Schedules of work after identification of plant improvement, capital projects works
- Implement and design new and improved process control systems, safety systems
- Monitor and manage budgets cost effectively- CAPEX and OPEX
- Regularly review Safety Instrumented Systems, documentation and improve process control systems and safety systems in line with standards
