  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, Test by Design and technology teams to balance form, function and performance.
  • Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure strong DFM and DFA throughout development.
  • Prepare and deliver design outputs, documentation and materials in line with stage‑gate requirements.
  • Communicate progress, risks and design rationale clearly to project leads, Head of NPD and wider stakeholders.
  • Actively contribute to A‑SAFE’s innovation culture, bringing positive energy and curiosity to every challenge.

What you’ll be working on:

  • Hands‑on involvement in live product development projects, including a high‑profile product redesign early in role.
  • Exposure to polymer‑based products, impact performance challenges and manufacturing tooling.
  • Opportunities to develop project leadership skills while owning defined elements of NPD delivery.

What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Product Design, Industrial Design or similar (BSc, BA, BDes).
  • Experience in a professional product design environment (in‑house or consultancy).
  • Strong understanding of the NPD lifecycle and stage‑gate development processes.
  • Technical design capability across:
    • 2D and 3D CAD (Inventor, Creative Suite)
    • Concept generation and presentation (rendering, Keyshot)
    • Prototyping (3D printing, hand prototyping)
    • Testing and DFMEAs
    • Practical experience with manufacturing processes, particularly injection moulding and extrusion.
    • Experience designing to cost, budget and manufacturability constraints.
    • Confidence collaborating across multi‑disciplinary teams in a fast‑paced development environment.
  • Desirable experience:
    • Experience working within an internal product development team.
    • Exposure to taking moulded components from concept through to tooling and production.
    • Ambition to progress toward Senior Product Designer within the next 1–2 years.

    Benefits:

    • A subsidised on-site gym, available for all colleagues.
    • Flexible start and finish times to fit around you and your lifestyle.
