Are you a software developer who loves working close to the hardware, solving technical challenges and seeing your code power real‑world products? As an Embedded Software Developer at A‑SAFE, you’ll play a key role in developing firmware and production test applications for our IoT sensor and gateway technologies. These products are reshaping safety and efficiency across industrial workplaces, and your work sits right at the centre of how they perform. This is a hands‑on, technically rich role where you’ll collaborate daily with hardware engineers, contribute to exciting new product developments, and build software that ensures our devices are reliable, robust and production‑ready.
How you will make an impact:
- You’ll design, develop and maintain firmware for new and existing IoT sensors and gateway devices.
- You’ll build and improve production test applications that ensure our products are validated accurately and efficiently.
- You’ll review system designs and help define the firmware requirements that shape product architecture.
- You’ll perform testing, debugging and analysis to ensure firmware and test tools are robust and high‑quality.
- You’ll work closely with electronics, mechanical and cloud teams to deliver fully integrated solutions.
- You’ll contribute to new product developments, adding features, supporting architecture work and helping define how products evolve.
- You’ll prepare technical documentation including specifications, release notes and test reports.
- You’ll research new technologies and propose ideas that enhance performance, workflow or quality.
What we are looking for:
- Software development experience using C# (core requirement for production test applications).
- Exposure to embedded development or hardware‑adjacent systems.
- Understanding of low‑level communication protocols (UART, I²C, SPI) or a desire to learn them.
- Experience debugging software that interacts with hardware.
- Ability to use test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) to validate embedded behaviour.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Experience collaborating closely with electronics or mechanical teams.
You’ll also bring:
- A curiosity driven mindset and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- High attention to detail and a passion for delivering quality, reliable code.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a logical, methodical approach.
- A collaborative, open approach to sharing ideas and driving progress.
- Self‑motivation and the ability to manage your own workload.
Why you’ll love working with us:
- You’ll join a small, highly collaborative embedded team where your contribution has real influence.
- You’ll work across exciting new sensing and gateway products while also developing the production‑side tools that keep our hardware line running accurately and efficiently.
- This isn’t a role where you’re coding in isolation, you’ll be surrounded by mechanical engineers, electronics engineers and cloud developers all working together to build technology that genuinely improves workplace safety worldwide.
Benefits:
- A subsidised on‑site gym, available for all colleagues.
- Flexible start and finish times to fit around you and your lifestyle.
- Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and NICU pay.
- 25 Days holiday plus bank holidays with the option to buy more.
- Cycle to work scheme, Specsavers vouchers, long service rewards, EAP.
