Are you a field sales professional who loves being out with customers, developing a territory of your own, and turning opportunities into real commercial results? As an Area Sales Manager at A‑SAFE, you'll take ownership of our Scotland territory — managing an established customer base while actively developing new business across one of the UK's most varied industrial regions. Our products protect people, infrastructure and operations inside some of the world's most recognisable brands, and your work sits right at the centre of how customers experience A‑SAFE.
This is a hands‑on, autonomous role where roughly 60% of your time is spent in the field — walking customer sites, identifying safety gaps, running surveys and guiding decision‑making conversations in person. You'll be partnered with an Internal Sales Executive (ISE) and supported by an experienced Sales Director, a hands‑on technical team and a close‑knit group of ASMs across the UK. Scotland is a large, high‑potential territory with significant room to grow. For a resilient, results‑driven salesperson, it offers autonomy, variety and one of the strongest commission schemes in the industry.
How you will make an impact
- You’ll take ownership of the Scotland territory — managing, growing and developing an account base of 80–200 customers across logistics, manufacturing, automotive, food & drink, construction and distribution.
- You’ll build deeper customer relationships through frequent onsite visits, running surveys, identifying safety gaps and recommending the right A‑SAFE solutions with confidence and credibility.
- You’ll own the full sales cycle - prospecting, qualification (including BANT C), opportunity development, closing and handover - converting activity into measurable revenue.
- You’ll deliver against a clear KPI of around 9 site visits or surveys per week, supported by a structured journey cycle and a proactive approach to territory planning.
- You’ll build and maintain a realistic, well‑qualified pipeline in the CRM, giving the business an accurate view of forecast, risk and growth.
- You’ll work hand‑in‑hand with your Internal Sales Executive to generate appointments, nurture warm leads and keep call cycles moving.
- You’ll hand detailed surveys over to Technical Services for quotation, then follow up, negotiate and close with customers to secure orders.
- You’ll feed insight back to the wider sales team on market trends, competitor activity and customer challenges you see firsthand on the road.
- You’ll re‑engage inactive or under‑served accounts, rebuild trust where relationships have been damaged, and drive early wins from high‑potential sites.
What we are looking for
- Proven field sales or account management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, construction or technical B2B environment, with clear evidence of territory growth and new business conversion.
- A strong closer - confident in negotiation, objection handling and moving opportunities through to order, not just relationship‑building.
- Comfort managing both existing accounts and net‑new business, with the discipline to balance retention, development and hunting activity.
- Structured approach to qualification, pipeline management and forecasting; confident CRM user (NetSuite or equivalent).
- Comfort working to activity KPIs - this is a high‑activity, visit‑led role across a large geography.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across Scotland, including occasional overnight stays.
You’ll also bring
- Hunger, drive and commitment - you enjoy being out on the road, chasing opportunities and owning your results.
- Resilience and resourcefulness when challenges arise on site, and a practical, solution‑focused mindset.
- Strong interpersonal skills and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders - site managers, H&S teams, warehouse and engineering managers, procurement and operational directors.
- Self‑motivation, strong organisation and disciplined territory planning - this role is autonomous and large‑scale.
- A collaborative approach - success in our team correlates strongly with people who ask for help early, communicate openly and engage with their Sales Director and ISE.
- Ideally, the ability to read construction plans and take accurate site measurements to support survey work.
Why you'll love working with us
You’ll join a close‑knit, geographically distributed team of experienced ASMs and a Key Account Manager, backed by a Sales Director who is hands‑on, approachable, and a genuine subject‑matter expert in A‑SAFE products. Coaching, ride‑alongs and real support on live deals are part of how this team works. Scotland is a territory with huge potential and a high‑quality, market‑leading product suite behind you. If you want autonomy, variety, serious earning potential and the chance to genuinely shape the growth of a territory within a globally recognised British manufacturer, this role is for you.
