We\’re now looking for an established Senior Menswear Designer, ideally with a jersey, sweat and graphics background, on a maternity contract for 9-12 months.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Creating and developing original design ideas, concepts, embroideries, fabrications and seasonal themes
- Sourcing of relevant fabrics to meet the design requirements
- Creating specs/tech packs
- Trend packs/colour inspiration
- Managing and developing junior members of the team
- Providing support to the Design Manager
- Liaising with Account Manager regularly
- Liaising with factories and overseas offices
- Range reviews with Directors
- Maintaining strong relationship with Buyers
- Work to departmental deadlines and critical paths to ensure product is supplied within an effective timeframe to the customer
- Managing expenses and returns
- Inspiration and sourcing trips, including opportunity for overseas travel
Skills required:
- +4 years minimum background in design
- Experience working within menswear (jersey, sweat, fleece and graphics) preferred
- Good understanding of illustrator and/or photoshop
- Creative and trend driven with an eye for colour and fabric
- Attentive to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Team player and able to build relationships
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Manage challenges in a calm and positive manner
