We’re now looking for a Junior Designer, focusing on jersey wear, to work alongside our womenswear team in our Manchester HQ.

Overview Responsibilities
  • Research, develop, and design a diverse range of womenswear jersey products, identifying key shapes and selecting fabrics for each season.
  • Generate innovative design concepts through thorough inspiration and trend research.
  • Create jersey collections that align with our brand DNA and vision, producing detailed technical packs to ensure clarity in production.
  • Present trend research and design ideas to buyers, showcasing your expertise and creativity.
  • Leverage your strong knowledge of jersey fabrics and garment construction to inform your designs.
  • Collaborate with the design team to create seasonal mood and trend boards that inspire our collections.
  • Design seasonal capsule collections, focusing on key silhouettes, colour palettes, and fabric directions.
  • Research and source new design ideas, fabrics, and trims to keep our offerings fresh and relevant.
  • Work closely with suppliers to source new & relevant fabrics and trims suitable for seasonal collections.
  • Create comprehensive Tech packs, including detailed annotated cads & construction notes.
  • Lead trend and colour research and translate key seasonal design trends into commercially viable product ranges.
  • Support Senior Designers, mentoring and developing assistants within the design team.
  • Regular liaison with Senior Designers, account Managers and buyers to ensure timely development and alignment with client briefs and brand direction.
  • Communicate with factories and overseas development teams to resolve technical queries and ensure accurate sample execution.
  • Present range reviews to Directors, ensuring each collection aligns with brand strategy and seasonal goals.
  • Manage the design and development process in line with critical path timelines to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
  • Oversee sample management, tracking developments, returns and showroom organisation.
  • Inspiration, shopping and sourcing trips (including international travel where required).
  • Lead trend forecasting updates (e.g., WGSN) and analyse social media and cultural influences such as TikTok, Instagram, and TV for jersey specific insights.
  • Maintain an organised archive of samples, cards, and swatches, ensuring materials are accessible and up to date.
  • Ownership of the jersey design range, from concept through development, ensuring creative integrity and commercial viability throughout.
Qualifications
  • +3 years minimum background in design.
  • Experience working within womenswear (jerseywear design would be an advantage).
  • Excellent understanding of Illustrator and/or Photoshop.
  • Confident at CAD work & Strong Tech pack skills.
  • Creative and trend driven with an eye for colour and fabric.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team player and able to build relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Manage challenges in a calm and positive manner.
  • Understand the different customer handwriting and adapt designs accordingly.
  • Work quickly and efficiently under time pressures.
  • Proactive nature to work with different parts of the business, e.g. QC, Buyer and external customers.
  • Excellent fabric knowledge and understanding of production.
