A Lings Group Limited is a well‑established and rapidly growing construction business, providing professional trades services across South London & South East. Over the past five years, we’ve built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and customer care — and we’re now looking for a Bookkeeping Assistant to join our expanding finance team.
This role works closely with our Accounting Manager to ensure all financial records, invoices, and payments are managed accurately and efficiently. It’s a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic business environment — particularly suited to those studying AAT, ACCA, or another accountancy qualification.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile payments received against invoices daily.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and chase payments that fall outside agreed terms.
- Prepare and send weekly invoices to key clients.
- Take customer payments and manage supplier transactions later in the day.
- Manage parking and petty cash payments.
- Liaise directly with clients to resolve billing queries or discrepancies.
- Assist in calculating staff overtime and supporting payroll processes.
- Maintain and update financial records using QuickBooks or Xero.
- Prepare spreadsheets and simple reports in Excel to support the finance manager.
- Assist with general office duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping or an accounting support role.
- Experience using QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting software.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong numeracy skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Currently studying AAT / ACCA (or equivalent), or holding A‑Level Maths as a minimum qualification.

- Working hours: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
