A J Reynolds Truck Services Limited was established in 1991 in Frome, Somerset, expanding over the years to a 6000 sq ft workshop employing 11 staff. The garage carries out repairs services and MOTs on all vehicles from HGV, Van and cars,and has a Class 4/7 MOT Bay. HGV tests are taken locally. The garage is well equiped and carries out all services. Staff are continually developed and apprentices are employed.
Role Description
The owner is planning to retire and handover the responsibilities of running the Company to a three person management team, consisting of; Office Manager, HGV Service Manager and Service Manager Light Vehicle (a new role) This role has tremendous potential, with the possibility of complete contol when the owner steps aside in two years time. This is an overalls on/ hands on/management role, typical of an Independent garage.
We are seeking a dedicated Service Manager for Light Vehicles to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in Frome. The Service Manager will oversee daily service operations, including coordinating maintenance schedules, managing a skilled team of technicians, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsibilities also include maintaining compliance standards, managing budgets, and optimizing service processes. The role requires leadership in driving excellent customer service, implementing operational strategies, and maintaining high-quality outcomes. The sucessful candidate, will lead from the front with exceptional experience and example.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of light vehicle maintenance, repair processes, and service scheduling
- Exceptional diagnostic skills and repair methods.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, including performance monitoring and staff development
- Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage budgets, track performance metrics, and optimize processes
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and compliance practices
- Proficiency in computer systems and industry-related software
- Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role in vehicle service or a related field
- Formal qualification in automotive engineering, management, or a related discipline (preferred but not required)
