We are seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented Gardener to join the team at the London Temple. This role is responsible for ensuring the temple grounds consistently reflect the beauty, cleanliness, and sacred nature of the temple experience. You will maintain and care for landscaped areas, pathways, driveways, and building entrances, upholding standards established by the First Presidency at all times. The role involves carrying out routine gardening and groundskeeping duties, proactively resolving day‑to‑day maintenance issues and escalating more complex matters where appropriate. You will also support the preparation and upkeep of seasonal displays, contributing to a peaceful, welcoming, and well‑presented environment for all visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Mow lawns using hand and power mowers.
- Maintain the original landscape plan by planting perennials, shrubs, and trees.
- Trim and edge around walls, flower beds, and walks using hand clippers and power edging tools.
- May operate heavy tractors and other large power equipment to maintain landscape.
- Prune and shape shrubs and trees to provide optimum growth efficiency of plants and enhance beauty of grounds.
- Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees for disease, weed, and insect control, and perform regular fertilization as needed, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Responsible to see that all power equipment and machines are properly maintained.
- Provide guidance to volunteers in the maintenance of grounds.
- Water lawn and garden areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- One to two years of experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, gardening, agriculture, landscape design, or related field.
- Knowledge of various plants and fertilizers.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently and with a team.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
