Finance employees receive, account for, monitor, and design internal controls to safeguard sacred funds (donated confidentially in obedience to God's commandments) for the Church's religious mission under the direction of senior ecclesiastical leaders. This position is a fully-qualified or journey-level professional accounting position in which the incumbent provides professional accounting expertise in applying appropriate accounting principles to analyze present financial operations, administrative costs and obligations, and estimate future income and expenditures; assembling and analyzing data and transactions; preparing statements and reports; and performing internal audits of system accounts. As such, an incumbent is responsible for the more complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and developing financial statements and reports.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Area Presidency’s administrative team to ensure accurate recognition of expenditures.
- Working with coordinators and leaders to monitor spend against approved budgets for Area-sponsored Youth and Young Adult events.
- Supporting management’s efforts to monitor departmental budget performance.
- Partnering with department management on finance matters.
- Proactively analysing financial information to identify potential areas for improved performance.
- Assisting assigned Church departments compile an annual budget request.
- Conducting analysis to identify opportunities available for repurposing existing budget to meet evolving needs.
Qualifications
- A member of the Church and worthy to hold a temple recommend.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field.
- Six or more years of relevant experience in accounting or auditing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications and the ability to learn other software.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills, with confidence in communicating with management.
The Following Qualifications And Skills Are Advantageous
- Professional accounting qualification or Master’s degree.
