As a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer, you will lead the design, management, and delivery of site investigation and contaminated land assessment projects. Working closely with both public and private sector clients, you will assess and mitigate land contamination risks, support planning applications, and deliver remediation solutions. The role requires strong technical expertise in Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Intrusive Investigations, and the development and supervision of remediation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and strengthen client relationships through technical excellence, consistent communication, and reliable delivery.
- Contribute to proposals, fee estimates, and framework tendering, ensuring commercial viability and accuracy.
- Lead and manage contaminated land and environmental assessment projects from concept through to completion.
- Produce, review, and approve technical reports, including Phase 1 Preliminary Risk Assessments (PRA) and Phase 2 Intrusive Site Investigation Reports.
- Design and supervise remediation strategies, including verification and validation reporting.
- Act as a key liaison with planning authorities, environmental regulators (e.g., EA, SEPA), and other stakeholders.
- Ensure technical outputs align with current regulatory standards, including Land Contamination Risk Management (LCRM) guidance.
- Oversee fieldwork including soil and groundwater sampling, in‑situ testing, and gas/vapour monitoring.
- Coordinate with laboratories for geochemical analysis and interpret results within the context of environmental risk.
- Monitor project budgets, ensuring delivery within cost and timescale parameters.
- Procure services from subcontractors and suppliers as needed, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Support and mentor junior engineers, graduates, and technicians, promoting technical development and professional progression.
- Share knowledge in contaminated land assessment, soil science, risk assessment, and remediation.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Strong background in Phase 1 and Phase 2 reporting and environmental risk assessment.
- Demonstrated experience in remediation planning and oversight.
- Familiarity with CLEA, P20, and environmental modelling tools.
- Knowledge of UK planning and environmental legislation.
- Valid UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
