A growing multi-disciplinary contractor with a strong reputation in commercial offices, industrial projects, refurbishment, FM and M&E services is looking for a hands-on Health and Safety Manager. The business is expanding rapidly, supported by long-term clients, a healthy pipeline and a well-structured senior team. The role suits someone who enjoys being out on site, working closely with project teams and taking ownership of health, safety and environmental performance across a varied portfolio. All construction backgrounds will be considered.
The RoleThe Health and Safety Manager will lead and develop HSE standards across construction, M&E, small works and refurbishment schemes. The position is based in Milton Keynes with regular travel to live sites, supporting directors, project managers, engineers and site teams.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain Health and Safety Policy in line with HSWA 1974, CDM 2015, EaWR 1989, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and Working at Height Regulations
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 and client safety requirements
- Provide specialist advice to directors, project teams and site staff
- Lead accident and incident investigations including root cause analysis and RIDDOR reporting
- Prepare and review RAMS for construction, M&E and small works
- Carry out site inspections and audits, ensuring actions are completed
- Support pre-construction planning and design risk assessments
- Liaise with Principal Contractors and Principal Designers
- Oversee subcontractor safety including competency checks and inductions
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and H&S training
- Promote a positive safety culture across commercial and industrial sites
- Maintain training matrices, accident logs, inspection reports and compliance registers
- Produce monthly reports including KPIs, trends and improvement actions
- Manage H&S input for tenders and PQQs
- NEBOSH National Diploma or NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
- Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation for construction and M&E
- Experience as a Health and Safety Manager or Advisor in construction or engineering
- Strong understanding of CDM 2015
- Experience preparing RAMS, conducting audits and leading investigations
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence site teams
- Full UK driving licence
- Up to £65,000
