A well-established brickwork subcontractor, part of a growing group, now has an opportunity for a Trainee Estimator due to continued expansion. They work with leading main contractors and are known for their expertise in brickwork, blockwork, masonry and stonework. Typical projects include high-rise residential schemes, build-to-rent developments, hospitals, education facilities and defence projects. The group turnover is approaching £50m, with this division delivering £16m independently and aiming to reach £20m within the next five years.

The Role - Trainee Estimator

Working closely with the Managing Estimator, you will support on a variety of projects ranging from £500k to £3m for major UK main contractors. As part of your training, you will assist with Bills of Quantities, measurements and take-offs, analyse drawings and tender documents, and help prepare pricing information. You will gather supplier quotes, maintain accurate project data, work within Excel spreadsheets and contribute to tender submissions. Over time, you will develop a strong understanding of brickwork, blockwork, masonry methods, cost analysis and commercial procedures, with structured training provided to help you progress into a full Estimator role.

About You

  • Motivated, organised and able to manage your own time
  • GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths & English
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ideally some understanding of brickwork or construction (not essential)
  • Focused & methodical
