An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join a respected and successful main contractor with a strong pipeline of work. This role is ideal for someone looking to progress their commercial career within a stable contractor delivering high-quality construction projects.
The company delivers a balanced mix of new-build and refurbishment schemes across commercial buildings, education, healthcare, heritage, leisure, community facilities, residential developments, fit-outs and complex refurbishments. Their General Contracting division typically undertakes projects between £1m and £10m, with the wider business capable of delivering schemes up to £40m.
You will join a strong commercial and pre-construction team based in Hertfordshire, working alongside experienced Estimators and Quantity Surveyors. Hybrid working can be discussed.
The RoleAs Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of construction projects from pre-contract through to final account. Duties include cost management, procurement, subcontractor packages, valuations, variations, change control, cost reporting, cashflow forecasting, commercial risk management, contract administration (JCT/NEC) and supporting project delivery teams with commercial and contractual advice. You will ensure projects meet financial targets, contractual obligations and client expectations.
About You- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a UK main contractor
- Confident managing projects independently from a commercial perspective
- Experience across both new-build and refurbishment schemes
- Strong knowledge of JCT or NEC contracts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Solid understanding of procurement and cost control
- RICS qualification desirable but not essential
- Full UK driving licence preferred
