Established in 1995, they now operate from seven regional offices with a turnover approaching £250m. This role is based in their Northampton office, supporting projects across the South Midlands. The company has a strong management team with many long-serving employees who progressed internally from trainee level.
The Role:
Working within the commercial team, you will support the delivery of civil engineering and residential groundworks projects. The role is office based with regular site visits and suits someone accurate, organised and commercially focused.
Responsibilities:
- Regular site visits and liaison with the production team
- Preparing and reviewing tenders with estimators
- Providing early cost advice on variations and ensuring only authorised works proceed
- Offering technical advice on drawings and ensuring correct project documentation
- Managing commercial aspects of assigned projects to maximise value
- Working closely with Finance and Procurement
- Completing commercial accountabilities accurately and on time
- Analysing rates and prices and agreeing variations or compensation events
- Identifying potential debt risks and negotiating financial reconciliation
- Forecasting monthly and annual profit figures
- Supporting the safety team in applying safety policy and addressing concerns
- Building strong client relationships
- Allocating work to subcontractors and assisting with procurement
The Right Person:
- GCSEs AC / 59 including Maths and English
- Experienced Quantity Surveyor with residential groundworks experience
- Good understanding of construction contractual terms
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong mathematical ability
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Confident analysing data and producing cost value reports
