Our client is a well‑established and forward‑thinking main contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work for the year ahead. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. The business delivers healthcare/commercial refurbishment and new‑build projects under JCT and NEC contracts, with typical project values ranging from £2m–£10m. Operating from a Bedfordshire‑based office, projects are largely located across the Home Counties, offering a good balance between office, site presence and regional travel. Role Summary

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take full commercial responsibility for projects from pre‑construction through to final account. Working closely with project teams, clients and the supply chain, the role will focus on maintaining strong commercial control, managing risk, and supporting successful project delivery, particularly within live healthcare environments. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS from a main contracting background to join a growing business with long‑term ambitions and a healthy pipeline of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of healthcare refurbishment and new‑build projects valued between £2m–£10m
  • Cost planning, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors and supply chain
  • Preparation and agreement of valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Commercial reporting and cost/value reconciliation
  • Risk management and change control
  • Close liaison with site teams, consultants and clients
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team where required

Person Specification

  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Experience delivering refurbishment and/or new‑build projects with a main contractor
