This established mechanical building services contractor has a strong pipeline of commercial projects and is looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join its close-knit team. As an SME, the business offers direct access to senior management, quicker decisions and the chance to take real ownership of your projects rather than becoming another number in a large organisation.
You will manage mechanical projects from pre-construction through design coordination, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and final handover. Projects include commercial office fit-out, CAT A and CAT B refurbishment, design and build schemes, landlord and tenant works, HVAC installations, plantrooms and mechanical services upgrades.
The Role
- Take full responsibility for mechanical projects from pre-construction to practical completion and handover
- Manage project programmes, design coordination, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning
- Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, engineers, supervisors, suppliers and site teams
- Monitor budgets, variations, valuations, forecasting and overall project performance
- Liaise with clients, consultants, main contractors and the wider design team
- Chair progress, design, technical and subcontractor meetings
- Manage RFIs, technical queries, design changes and project documentation
- Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, architectural and structural packages
- Monitor quality, programme, subcontractor performance, RAMS, permits and CDM compliance
- Resolve technical, commercial and programme issues and report progress to senior management
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within mechanical building services or M&E
- Experience delivering commercial fit-out, refurbishment and design and build projects
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, heating, ventilation, chilled water, LTHW, domestic water services, drainage, BMS integration and plantroom installations
- Experience managing mechanical subcontractors, site teams, programmes and procurement
- Commercial awareness, including budgets, variations and cost control
- Good knowledge of UK construction practices, health and safety and CDM requirements
- SMSTS and CSCS
- A mechanical qualification such as HNC, HND or Degree is advantageous, although equivalent experience will be considered
- Based within commuting distance of Milton Keynes or able to travel to the office and project locations
