A leading flooring subcontractor in Bedford has an opportunity for a Trainee Estimator or Estimator to join their commercial team. They are financially strong, expanding, and known for exceptional quality and service. This is a great role for someone who wants to learn, progress and grow in a fast-paced commercial environment. You will be joining a team of six, consisting of two Business Development Managers and four Estimators. Hybrid working is available after a training period.

They operate across Airports, Healthcare, Defence, Leisure, Commercial, Hotels, Education and Residential, delivering first-class installations on time, every time. They work with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Contractors and have a strong presence across London and the Home Counties. The commercial team enjoys a great working environment with plenty of experience, support, banter and regular social activities. Everyone gets along well, and there is always lots happening socially. Projects typically range between £5,000 and £2,000,000.
The Role
This is a full-time, office-based role with regular site visits. You will assist with and develop skills in:
- Reviewing drawings and specifications
- Quantity take-offs
- Preparing estimates and costings
- Pricing bills of quantities and producing lump-sum tenders
- Supplier and subcontractor enquiries
- Comparing quotations and supporting procurement
- Assisting with tender submissions
- Supporting contract administration and commercial reporting
- Carrying out site surveys 12 times per week
- Working on projects requiring security clearance
You will typically manage 78 live tenders at any one time, valued between £50,000 and £1.5m.

- 5 GCSEs including a C in Maths
- Must be able to drive
- Good attention to detail
- Able to juggle multiple tenders and deadlines in a high-pressure environment

- Able to work independently and within a team
- Experience in negotiation is beneficial
- Comfortable working on security-cleared projects (training provided)
Working Hours
8.30am - 5.00pm. Hybrid working available after a training period.
