A long-established and growing regional electrical contractor is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support a strong pipeline of commercial and general contracting projects across Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area. This role is ideal for an experienced estimator or an electrically biased professional looking to step further into a dedicated pre-construction role within a supportive and ambitious team.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates from initial enquiry through to tender submission. Projects include commercial units, warehouses, general contracting environments and light industrial sites. There is no residential work. The business is open to candidates from electrical contractors, M&E companies, or experienced site-based professionals transitioning into estimating. A Gold ECS Card is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical estimates for commercial and general contracting projects
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to produce accurate take-offs
- Price labour, materials, plant and subcontractor packages to deliver competitive tenders
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and manage pricing returns
- Identify commercial risks, exclusions and value engineering opportunities
- Produce clear, professional tender submissions and cost breakdowns
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings as required
- Work closely with project managers and commercial teams during the bid stage
- Support handover from estimating to delivery teams to ensure a smooth project start
- Maintain current cost data and pricing schedules in line with market conditions
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Electrical Estimator or Electrical Project Engineer/Supervisor ready to move into estimating
- Strong understanding of commercial and general contracting electrical installations
- Experience with estimating, take-offs and cost planning
- Commercially aware with strong attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Clear communicator with strong written and numerical skills
- Holds a Gold ECS Card and a full UK driving licence
- Ambitious and seeking long-term progression
