The Role – Cost Manager

You will be part of a collaborative team working in a modern, open-plan office environment. The focus will be on projects for a major retail client, involving refurbishment and fit-out works with project values ranging from £2m to £25m. The role is primarily office-based, with client visits approximately once a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building strong, professional relationships with clients, acting as an extension of their team
  • Managing subcontractor tendering and cost reviews
  • Providing accurate cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting to ensure project completion within budget
  • Proactively managing cost variances, cash flow, and timely applications
  • Collaborating with clients and contractors to deliver project KPIs, including programme performance, cost control, and value engineering
  • Negotiating and finalizing project accounts

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor with a background in consultancy or main contracting
  • Refurbishment experience, including walls, ceilings, floors, and M&E
  • Retail sector experience
  • Degree-qualified
  • Ability to work efficiently on fast-paced, turnaround projects
