Architectural Technician
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 DOE
Team Size: 7
Hybrid: 1 day WFH after probation
A growing multi‑disciplinary architectural practice in rural Northamptonshire is seeking an Architectural Technician to join their expanding team of seven. The practice delivers thoughtful, high‑quality architecture across a varied portfolio including bespoke residential projects, one‑off homes, and commercial schemes in education, offices, industrial and leisure sectors. This role offers involvement across all project stages, genuine responsibility and clear career progression within a supportive studio environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver projects through all RIBA stages
- Interpret client requirements and develop design concepts
- Carry out site visits and assess existing conditions
- Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications and documentation
- Prepare planning submissions and communicate design intent
- Ensure compliance with building regulations and industry standards
- Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors and internal teams
- Support junior staff when required
- Contribute to a collaborative studio culture
Candidate Requirements
- Strong technical and detailing skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD; confident using Revit (SketchUp and Chaos beneficial)
- Degree in Architecture or HND (or above) in Construction Management
- Ideally 5+ years’ experience in practice (flexible for strong candidates)
- Good knowledge of MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong understanding of building regulations and best practice
- Excellent communication and client‑facing skills
- Organised, proactive and able to manage workload independently
- Full UK driving licence
- CIAT registration beneficial and supported
