Trainee Estimator / Estimator – Bedford
A leading flooring subcontractor in Bedford has an excellent opportunity for a Trainee Estimator or experienced Estimator to join their commercial team. You will be joining a team of six, consisting of two Business Development Managers and four Estimators, working collaboratively across a busy and varied workload. Hybrid working is available after a training period.

The Role – Trainee Estimator / Estimator
This is a full-time, office-based role with site visits. You will assist with and develop skills in:
- Reviewing drawings and specifications
- Quantity take-offs
- Preparing estimates and costings
- Pricing bills of quantities and producing lump-sum tenders
- Supplier and subcontractor enquiries
- Comparing quotations and supporting procurement
- Assisting with tender submissions
- Supporting contract administration and commercial reporting
You will typically manage 7–8 live tenders simultaneously, working on commercial contracts valued between £50,000 – £1.5m, and gaining exposure to a wide range of flooring disciplines including vinyl, lino, timber, sports flooring, ceramics, acoustic systems, hygienic wall cladding, raised access flooring and screeds.
Some projects will require security-cleared work, so you must be comfortable working within controlled environments and following strict protocols.

- 5 GCSEs including a C in Maths
- Good attention to detail

- Able to work independently and within a team
- Experience in negotiation is beneficial
- Comfortable working on security-cleared projects (training provided if required)
Working Hours
8.30 am – 5.00 pm. Hybrid working available after a training period.
