Overview
We are seeking a skilled Upholsterer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail, capable of transforming furniture and other items with high-quality upholstery work. This role requires a blend of creativity and technical skill, as you will be responsible for both the aesthetic and functional aspects of upholstery.
Duties
- Measure and cut fabric, leather, and other materials according to specifications.
- Repair or replace damaged upholstery on furniture and other items.
- Assemble and disassemble furniture as needed for reupholstering.
- Apply padding, springs, and other materials to ensure comfort and durability.
- Use tools such as sewing machines, staple guns, and hand tools to complete projects.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and preferences regarding design and materials.
- Keep up-to-date with trends in upholstery styles, fabrics, and techniques.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Upholsterer or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for colour, texture, and design.
- Proficient in using various upholstery tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina; ability to lift heavy materials when necessary.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise during the upholstery process.
- A creative mindset with the ability to envision finished products from raw materials.
