About you
This role is ideally suited to a recent mechanical engineering graduate or a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, ideally apprentice trained in a mechanical engineering discipline, who is looking to develop their career within a professional design office environment. You will support the design team across a range of activities relating to production, procurement, sub-contractors, service support and technical documentation. You will be methodical, well organised, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Some experience or knowledge of mechanical assembly, fitting, and basic design principles is required, along with a strong desire to learn and build your understanding of engineered products. You will be a fast learner with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritise your workload in line with business demands. Experience with IT systems and 2D and 3D design software packages would be beneficial, although full training and support will be provided.
About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience within a supportive engineering team. The role will involve providing administrative and technical support within the design office, offering a strong foundation to develop core mechanical design skills and product knowledge. You will assist with the production and checking of mechanical drawings and work closely with electrical design and software engineers to help ensure mechanical designs meet customer and project requirements. You will provide technical support to ABG production staff, subcontract and outsource partners, the service department, and customers. You will help produce part and assembly drawings to support manufacturing and assembly processes, where a high level of attention to detail is essential. Occasional travel to other ABG sites, customer locations, or supplier sites may be required. ABG is committed to encouraging equality, diversity, and inclusion among our workforce, and we welcome applications from everyone who meets the criteria. If you are looking for a new opportunity within ABG, this could be it and we would love to hear from you.
