Job Summary:
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving sales and market share growth for civil engineering products/solutions across the United Kingdom. This role combines technical expertise with strong sales acumen, requiring the ability to understand client needs, present technical solutions, and build lasting relationships with key stakeholders in the civil engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Sales & Account Management: Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities within the civil engineering market (e.g., consultants, contractors, local authorities, infrastructure developers). Manage and grow relationships with existing clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business. Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to potential and existing clients, clearly articulating the value proposition of our solutions. Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, assisting them in selecting the most appropriate solutions for their projects.
- Market Analysis & Strategy: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market demands within the UK civil engineering sector. Contribute to the development and implementation of sales strategies to achieve sales targets and expand market presence. Gather market feedback and provide insights to internal product development and marketing teams.
- Quotation & Negotiation: Prepare detailed technical proposals and quotations in response to client inquiries and tender specifications. Negotiate contracts and terms of sale to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including product development, marketing, and customer support to ensure seamless client experience and solution delivery. Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network and promote our offerings.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or a client-facing role within the civil engineering or construction industry. Demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, processes, and project lifecycle. Familiarity with materials, software, or equipment, e.g., geotechnical analysis, structural design, BIM, drainage solutions, concrete technology. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Sales & Soft Skills: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. Strong negotiation and closing skills. Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented with a strong work ethic. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Other: Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively across the UK. Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
