About 9fin: 9fin is the AI platform powering global debt markets — the world’s largest asset class at over $145 trillion. Debt markets are vast, global, and mission-critical, yet still run on fragmented data, PDFs, and manual workflows. 9fin replaces this broken infrastructure with a single platform that centralises proprietary credit data, deep analysis, and high-value workflows across global markets. Today, 9fin powers teams at 300+ blue-chip institutions worldwide, including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors. The business is scaling at exceptional speed, with rapid expansion in the US and best-in-class retention driven by deep workflow adoption.

What you'll work on: 9fin's team of financial journalists is looking for a European Investment Grade Editor to lead our coverage of one of the most important corners of the credit market. You will manage the European IG editorial team and own the beat end-to-end: setting the editorial agenda, raising the quality bar on every piece of copy that goes out, developing the reporters on your desk, and breaking the stories that make 9fin essential reading for IG market professionals. You'll work closely with our US IG Editor, our broader credit team across London and New York, and the wider 9fin newsroom to make sure 9fin's IG coverage sets the standard in the market.

Every day is different, but here's an example of the kind of things you'll work on:

  • Line-managing the European IG reporters — setting expectations, running 1:1s, giving clear and consistent feedback, and holding the team to a high standard.
  • Editing copy from your reporters — sharpening angles, pushing for stronger sourcing, holding the line on accuracy, clarity and pace.
  • Setting the coverage strategy: what we chase, what we leave, what themes we lean into across primary, secondary, credit fundamentals and the macro backdrop.
  • Continuing to report and break stories yourself, particularly on the bigger market-moving deals, themes and issuers.
  • Building and maintaining your own senior source network across syndicate desks, DCM origination, investors, treasurers, advisers and lawyers.
  • Developing the reporters on your desk — coaching on source-building, story selection, writing, and how to operate inside a fast-moving market — and helping them grow into the next stage of their careers.
  • Driving longer-form features and investigative pieces alongside the daily news flow.
  • Representing 9fin externally at conferences, panels, and industry events.
  • Working with the wider 9fin newsroom on cross-asset features, investigations and new editorial initiatives.

About You: If you're an experienced credit journalist who knows the European IG market well, has the instincts of a reporter and the judgement of an editor, and wants real ownership of a flagship beat, we'd like to hear from you.

  • Several years of experience reporting on credit markets, with deep familiarity with European Investment Grade — issuers, syndicate desks, the buy-side, the rhythm of primary issuance, and the macro and rates backdrop that drives the market.
  • A track record of breaking market-moving stories and developing original reporting that competitors don't have.
  • Strong editing instincts — able to take a draft and make it sharper, faster, better-sourced, with a clearer take.
  • Experience line-managing or formally mentoring other reporters — or a strong, demonstrable readiness to step into a people management role for the first time.
  • Sound editorial judgement on what matters and what doesn't, and the confidence to make the call quickly when the market is moving.
  • Comfortable in the detail of credit — spreads, new issue premiums, curves, ratings, covenants — and able to connect that detail to the bigger themes shaping the asset class.
  • Excellent written English, with the ability to make technical topics accessible to a sophisticated reader without dumbing them down.
  • High accuracy, high standards, and the discipline to deliver consistently in a fast-moving market.
  • Ambition to shape how European IG gets covered, and to build a desk and a body of work you're proud of.

Benefits: We’re a scaling start up, and we enjoy sharing our success; when the company succeeds, we always reinvest that in our people. We also offer huge amounts of responsibility, an abundance of opportunity for growth and a platform to truly excel.

  • Competitive Salary (our salary bands are benchmarked at the top end of the market).
  • Equity.
  • Pension (your minimum contributions are 4% with 9fin matching up to 7%).
  • Private Medical Insurance.
  • Paid sick leave with Income Protection for long periods of illness.
  • Group Life Assurance.
  • Season Ticket Loan & Cycle to Work schemes.

Time off: 25 holiday days per year, local public holidays (with the ability to exchange them for alternative days), hybrid working model, to allow you the flexibility to decide how, where and when you do your best work, work abroad for up to 3 months a year, 1 month paid sabbatical after 5 years of service, enhanced parental leave & flexible working arrangements available.

Training & Culture: Professional learning and development budget, AI experimentation budget of £800 (UK) per employee to trial AI tools, quarterly team socials, summer and winter company social events.
