Corporate Title: Vice President
Location: London
Company Overview: At Bank of America, we are guided by a common purpose to help make financial lives better through the power of every connection. We do this by driving Responsible Growth and delivering for our clients, teammates, communities and shareholders every day. Being a Great Place to Work is core to how we drive Responsible Growth. This includes our commitment to being an inclusive workplace, attracting and developing exceptional talent, supporting our teammates’ physical, emotional, and financial wellness, recognizing and rewarding performance, and how we make an impact in the communities we serve. Bank of America is committed to an in-office culture with specific requirements for office-based attendance and which allows for an appropriate level of flexibility for our teammates and businesses based on role-specific considerations.
The team: The GPS EMEA Financial Institutions team helps banks and other regulated financial institutions with payments, liquidity, transactional FX and related treasury solutions. Within it, the UK Banks & PayTech team covers some of the most dynamic and fastest-changing parts of financial services. PayTech is a fast-growing segment for the franchise. We are looking for a Vice President to own a defined portfolio of PayTech and digital banking relationships and help drive the segment's next phase of growth.
The role: The VP will report to the Head of UK Banks & PayTech. They will work under the segment direction of the EMEA PayTech Lead, who covers the largest strategic PayTech relationships and sets the segment agenda. Within that framework, the VP will have primary GPS sales responsibility for a defined portfolio of names. The portfolio will mix established relationships, where the focus is protecting and deepening revenue, with growth names, where the focus is origination and building the relationship. The VP is accountable for portfolio revenue, product penetration, and opportunities from origination through onboarding, implementation and revenue realisation.
The portfolio mainly consists of:
- PayTechs: payment service providers, e-money institutions, merchant acquirers, money services businesses, card schemes and fintech platforms.
- Digital banks: a smaller number of neo/challenger banks and tier-2 UK banks.
Responsibilities:
- Portfolio ownership and growth: Own a defined portfolio of established and growth PayTech and digital banking relationships. Protect existing revenue through account, retention and recovery plans. Understand each client's licensing, legal-entity structure, flow of funds, settlement model and growth priorities. Originate new logos and entities where there is a credible business need, a model that fits the bank's risk appetite and an attractive risk-adjusted return. Work with the EMEA PayTech Lead on segment priorities, target lists and coverage plans.
- Integrated solutions: Build client strategies across collections and payouts, domestic and cross-border, across multiple currencies and rails, including real-time payments; currency clearing and account services; safeguarding, client money and settlement account structures; card and scheme settlement flows; liquidity and deposits; transactional FX, including AutoFX, embedded in the client's payment flows; API connectivity, virtual account and data-led services. Position the bank as a scalable infrastructure partner, turning flows and balances into lasting, fee-based relationship revenue.
- Execution and reporting: Set clear deal plans, milestones, economics and accountable owners for priority opportunities. Own portfolio reporting across revenue, pipeline (identified, qualified, mandated, implementing, live) and forecasts, with clean CRM data. Spot onboarding, KYC, sanctions, credit and technology constraints early, and coordinate partners to resolve them. Stay accountable after go-live for adoption, volumes and revenue delivery.
- Client advisory and governance: Lead senior client meetings, RFPs and negotiations with founders, CFOs, treasurers and heads of payments. Engage clients on payments modernisation, real-time and always-on payments, APIs, digital money and operational resilience. Separate scalable opportunities from experiments, and never present pilots as generally available. Apply sound financial crime judgement: understand payments made on behalf of underlying customers, sanctions exposure and the risks of a client's merchant or customer base. Make sure every opportunity fits the bank's risk appetite and regulatory obligations. Feed client and market insight back to product partners. Support junior colleagues on the portfolio.
What we are looking for:
- Client-facing experience in transaction banking, payments or FI coverage, with direct coverage of PayTechs, PSPs, EMIs, acquirers, card schemes or digital banks.
- A track record of personally originating and converting business with regulated financial institutions or payments firms.
- Experience both leading relationships directly and working within global coverage models alongside headquarters teams.
- Strong knowledge of cross-border payments, clearing, safeguarding, liquidity and transactional FX across major currencies.
- Understanding of PayTech business models, card and scheme settlement, real-time payments, APIs and multi-rail payment models.
- Good understanding of the UK/EU regulatory frameworks for payments and e-money, and of the related financial crime risks.
- Proven ability to coordinate across regions, products and control functions without formal authority.
- Sound commercial and risk judgement, plus excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience covering US or APAC-headquartered clients in EMEA is preferred.
Measures of success:
- Commercial: revenue growth and protection across established names; new logos and relationship growth across growth names; product penetration; fee-based revenue mix.
- Conversion: pipeline-to-mandate, mandate-to-live, time to revenue, realised revenue against the business case.
- Coordination: quality of account plans for UK/Irish-headquartered clients and joint plans with home-region teams for inbound clients; clear ownership and follow-through.
- Governance and team: sound risk management, clean onboarding outcomes, and contribution to junior talent development.
Why join: This is a chance to own a defined portfolio in one of the franchise's fastest-growing segments, working alongside experienced senior coverage. The role combines leading relationships with UK and Irish PayTechs and covering in EMEA for leading global names. It offers significant exposure to senior clients, global coverage teams and GPS leadership, and suits an ambitious payments professional who wants to build a business, not inherit a static portfolio.
