FDO Solution Architect – Job Description
The Firmwide Data Office (FDO) is seeking a Solution Architect with a strong passion for data and a proven ability to design and deliver scalable solutions to complex data governance challenges. This role will be instrumental in extending our strategic suite of firmwide applications with a particular focus on onboarding stakeholders to the Firmwide Data Catalog.
This position sits within the Data Lineage Programme, one of the firm\’s most critical initiatives over the next two years.
We are looking for a structured, highly organized Solution Architect who thrives in ambiguity, can self-manage and takes a proactive approach to problem-solving. The role demands a strategic mindset, technical depth, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate the FDO strategy into scalable architectural solutions aligned with Fleet leadership goals.
- Collaborate across business and technology teams to define and implement data lineage capabilities.
- Lead solution design efforts ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and data governance principles.
- Define and maintain architectural artefacts including solution blueprints, integration patterns and data flow diagrams.
- Guide squads in delivering the right solutions by shaping user stories, acceptance criteria and technical requirements.
- Facilitate Business Design forums to govern architectural decisions and ensure consistency across squads.
- Identify and manage dependencies across the data lineage hourglass and ensure cross-functional alignment.
- Contribute to architecture standards and best practices within the FDO and broader architecture community.
- Act as a mentor and thought leader within the programme promoting a data-driven culture.
Must Have
- Strong understanding of enterprise data management and governance.
- Proven experience in solution architecture within large-scale programmes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as BCBS, GDPR etc.
- Experience in Agile delivery environments including BDD, TDD and CI/CD practices.
Desired
- Knowledge of ontologies and graph databases.
- Certifications in architecture governance or data modelling.
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g. Collibra).
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Rally and Confluence.
