Responsibilities

  • Assist in the ongoing development, administration, and implementation of the Firm's Economic Sanctions Compliance Programme.
  • Address sanctions‑related queries from first line risk, business and operations groups, including sanctions applicable to securities transactions and other financial products.
  • Collaborate with GFC business advisory and legal teams to provide written and verbal communication on sanctions‑related risks to lines of business; review highly sensitive client and transaction information; present, report and elevate results as required.
  • Track regulatory changes and emerging risks related to economic sanctions, ensuring proper communication and timely implementation of new procedures and enhanced due diligence programmes in response to changes in laws and regulations.
  • Advise on the development of risk‑based processes and controls to ensure business unit compliance with economic sanctions and broader risk mitigation.
  • Develop and deliver specialised training to relevant internal audiences concerning economic sanctions for both in‑person and firm‑wide online training modules.
  • Coordinate with the Risk Assessment team on yearly Economic Sanctions Risk Assessments.
  • Assist with responding to regulatory exams and inquiries as well as internal audits, including overseeing document productions.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably at a large or complex financial institution, law firm, or government/regulatory body.
  • Detailed understanding of laws, rules, regulations, and industry best practice pertaining to economic sanctions, especially sanctions programmes administered across EMEA and by OFAC.
  • Ability to understand and assess a wide variety of complex commercial transactions.
  • Highly motivated self‑starter able to work independently while collaborating as part of a global programme.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to provide viable solutions in a time‑sensitive environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
  • Sound judgment and ability to appropriately escalate issues internally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team‑player attitude.
  • Certification as an Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist by ACAMS or equivalent AML certification/license, or certification within the first 15 months of employment.

Certification and Regulatory Requirements

  • Role is deemed a Certified role and may require the holder to maintain mandatory regulatory qualifications or meet internal company benchmarks.
