Overview

Morgan Stanley are looking for a Client Facing Manager for their Hedge Fund Accounting. You will be a primary contact liaising with hedge fund clients, providing key updates on the funds and market.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary point of contact for hedge fund clients and manage approximately five client relationships
  • Review and understand key fund organizational documents and ensure fund setup is consistent with the fund’s documents
  • Assist MSFS conversion teams with new client setup and accounting conversion implementation
  • Coordinate with MSFS offshore operations and clients to resolve trade and accounting breaks
  • Review position and cash reconciliations between clients and their custodians
  • Perform account closing procedures and ensure compliance with MSFS accounting procedures and controls
  • Ensure all fund expenses, including management and incentive fees (calculated in accordance with fund documents) and broker financing are accrued timely and in accordance with applicable accounting guidelines
  • Coordinate valuation signoff process with relevant accounting colleagues in other global locations
  • Review investor allocations prior to distribution to clients and investors
  • Review and approve portfolio valuations and NAV to ensure compliance with fund governing documents prior to distribution to clients and ensure client approval prior to distribution to investors/third parties
  • Idea generation and ongoing assessment and improvement of the operational service model
  • Coordinate with global colleagues across accounting, operations, and investor services to identify and implement solutions and strengthen the control environment
  • Act as a conduit between clients and their custodians/prime brokers
  • Review draft annual financial statements and coordinate year-end audits with clients and their independent auditors

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of complex hedge fund and/or private equity strategies and investor-level accounting concepts
  • Knowledge of different product types, including derivatives, fixed income, options, equity instruments, etc.
  • Understanding of GAAP and/or IFRS financial statement reporting requirements, with strong understanding of hedge fund and/or private equity structures
  • Strong team, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, communication skills (written and verbal) and relationship management
  • Undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent)

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Client focus, problem solving, collaboration and relationship management (internal and external)
  • Solid prior experience in fund accounting in an asset manager, fund administrator, or public accounting firm
  • CPA/CA/qualified license is a plus but not required
  • US tax and UK reporting knowledge is a plus but not required
