A leading alternative investment manager is hiring a VP Fund Controller – Fund Accounting to take ownership of the financial control and reporting for a portfolio of European mid-market private equity funds.
This is a core finance seat with real operational influence: you’ll lead fund accounting delivery, partner with the investment and investor teams, and manage key third‑party relationships to ensure high‑quality reporting, governance, and controls.
Key responsibilities
- Own financial control & reporting for closed‑ended PE funds (quarterly reporting, year‑end financial statements, audit delivery, and investor deliverables).
- Oversee the fund accounting operating model, ensuring robust controls, accurate outputs and on‑time delivery across reporting cycles.
- Manage third‑party administrators (TPAs): day‑to‑day oversight, service reviews, KPI monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with the investment team, IR and tax/structuring on fund flows, capital calls/distributions, investor notices and transaction support.
- Treasury & cash management, including liquidity planning and oversight of key counterparties.
- Governance & compliance: ensure adherence to LPAs/side letters, support internal/external stakeholder requests, and deliver required regulatory reporting where relevant.
- Support performance and carry‑related analysis, including IRR and fund‑level metrics as needed.
- Drive process, controls and systems enhancement, improving documentation, data integrity and scalability.
Candidate profile
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Background in Private Equity / Venture Capital fund accounting, gained in‑house at a manager and/or within a top‑tier fund administrator.
- Strong grasp of European mid‑market PE fund structures, investor reporting, audit processes, and third‑party oversight.
- Working knowledge of IFRS and/or Lux GAAP beneficial.
- Proven ability to lead delivery, manage competing deadlines, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong Excel capability; comfortable improving processes and driving operational change.
