A private debt platform is hiring a commercial, deal-facing Fund Controller to sit close to the investment team and support decision-making across portfolio and deal activity. This is a front-office aligned finance role with minimal involvement in core fund accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the finance business partner to the Deal Team on new investments, amendments, and portfolio activity.
  • Deliver commercial analysis: performance, yield/return drivers, sensitivities, leverage impact, and scenario modelling.
  • Support investment committee materials and deal papers with finance input and clear articulation of key metrics.
  • Oversee/review outputs provided by the administrator or fund accounting team (high level), focusing on accuracy and commercial relevance rather than production.
  • Partner with Investor Relations on investor queries, reporting narratives, and ad-hoc analytics.
  • Own stakeholder management across investment, operations, and external service providers; ensure information flow and delivery standards are met.
  • Drive process improvements around data, reporting, and deal support workflows.

Qualifications

  • A proven track record in commercial fund control/deal support—high judgement, fast-paced, stakeholder-heavy.
  • Strong analytical capability: performance attribution, cashflow mechanics, portfolio drivers, and return metrics.
  • Comfortable operating with limited fund accounting exposure (you can read and challenge, but you’re not producing the accounting).
  • Confident communicator with the presence to influence senior stakeholders and work credibly with the front office.

Why This Role

  • True deal-facing seat with meaningful commercial impact.
  • Exposure to portfolio activity and investment decision-making without being anchored to fund accounting delivery.
  • High visibility across the platform (Deal Team, IR, senior finance leadership).
