We are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner for a 3 month period (potentially longer) based in the Swindon area.

About the Transport Planner role:

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm (40 hours paid). Flexible working may be required to cover holidays.
  • Salary is £30K pro rata.
  • Temporary role - minimum 3 month period.
  • Based in Swindon (SN3).
  • Immediate start.

Duties & responsibilities for the Transport Planner role:

  • Plan, optimise & communicate local and nationwide delivery routes for vehicles.
  • Effectively plan loads to vehicles ensuring on-time deliveries.
  • Ensure all routes are legally compliant in line with driver's hours legislation, working time directive and vehicle weight restrictions.
  • Ensure all operational goals are met whilst maintaining focus on customer requirements.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with both team members and other departments.

Skills / Experience required for the Transport Planner role:

  • Strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A good geographical knowledge is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience of working in a planning or similar role is required.
  • A good understanding of driver's hours would be beneficial.
  • Good IT knowledge to include Microsoft Excel, Word etc.
