Job Overview
The Sr. Manager, HCCO UK/Ireland serves as the Healthcare Compliance Officer for the United Kingdom and Ireland, providing end‑to‑end strategic and operational compliance leadership for DePuy Synthes’ Orthopedics business. This role partners closely with country leadership, Legal, business and functional stakeholders, and regional and global Compliance teams to ensure ethical business conduct, effective risk management, and adherence to applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and company policies. This role has a significant impact on safeguarding the organization’s reputation while enabling compliant and sustainable business growth across two highly regulated and strategically important markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Healthcare Compliance Officer for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
- Lead the development and execution of healthcare compliance strategies aligned with global and EMEA regional priorities.
- Identify, assess, and manage compliance risks related to commercial, promotional, professional education, and other business and operational activities.
- Provide proactive guidance and practical advice to business leaders on healthcare compliance requirements and ethical decision‑making.
- Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to embed effective compliance controls into business processes and go‑to‑market models.
- Oversee compliance programs, including training, monitoring, risk assessments, and issue management activities across the UK and Ireland.
- Partner with Legal and other functions to support investigations, audits, and regulatory or health authority interactions.
- Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends in the UK and Ireland to anticipate and address emerging compliance risks.
- Prepare and present compliance risk assessments, insights, and recommendations to country, regional, and senior leadership.
- Foster a strong culture of integrity, accountability, and speak‑up across the markets supported.
Qualifications
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Compliance, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Preferred: Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Risk, or Ethics‑related).
Experience and Skills Required: 8–10 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, legal, risk management, audit, or related fields. Strong knowledge of UK and Ireland healthcare compliance laws, regulations, and industry codes (e.g., ABPI, MedTech Europe, IPHA). Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams or leading complex, country‑level compliance programs. Proven ability to partner effectively with senior business leaders and cross‑functional stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and effective decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
Preferred: Experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or broader life sciences industries. Prior experience supporting UK and/or Ireland compliance programs within a global organization. Familiarity with compliance monitoring, investigations, remediation, and audits. Experience operating in highly matrixed, multicultural environments. Strong change management and influencing capabilities.
Other Language: Fluency in English.
Travel: Up to 20–30%, primarily within the UK and Ireland, with some regional EMEA travel.
Certifications: Compliance, legal, or ethics certifications preferred.
