Global Process Owner, Machining & Finishing
Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer within its Joints Platform – TechOps (Technical Operations), Manufacturing Innovation team. The role focuses on leading the technical direction and continuous improvement of machining and material‑removal processes across the organization. The position reports to the Global Director of Manufacturing Innovation and supports manufacturing sites in the USA, UK, Ireland, and China.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technology and its future: develop and update the global strategy and roadmap for the designated manufacturing process, incorporating external market, competitor, and technology trends.
- Drive global process excellence by ensuring process changes and improvements are communicated and adopted across all manufacturing sites.
- Establish and maintain global validation strategies and support audits specific to the process, fostering continuous improvement and compliance.
- Act as the go‑to subject‑matter expert for all technical aspects of machining processes, understanding existing processes and identifying opportunities for step‑change improvements.
- Approve and endorse process changes, including new equipment, upgrades and modifications, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and governance on existing initiatives, working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to resolve challenges and streamline operations.
- Work collaboratively with the business to secure investments, infrastructure, capital and talent required to implement the technology strategy and roadmap.
- Support the development of new programme charters and initiatives by providing expert guidance on timelines, costs, risks and benefits during development and implementation of new innovations.
- Collect, analyse and report metrics related to the process, such as performance trends, aligning insights with overall business metrics.
Experience, Skills & Proficiencies Required
- Qualification or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, Production and/or Operations Management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for leading significant change initiatives that have delivered breakthrough results for an organisation.
- Strong customer relationship management with the ability to understand and address client frustrations and spot opportunities.
- Proven business experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, programme delivery and/or people management role.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies and innovation ecosystems is desirable.
