Project Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Shrewsbury

Hourly Rate £negotiable depending on experience

Assignment: 12-Month Contract (Inside IR35) likely to extend

Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for powertrain systems and a flair for problem-solving? We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering team working on high-impact defence vehicle programmes in Shrewsbury .

This 12-month contract role offers you the chance to work on cutting-edge technology within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Developing and executing validation test plans (DVP&R) for components and assemblies.
  • Running rig/dyno tests and producing detailed technical reports.
  • Analysing test data using both manual calculations and simulation tools.
  • Supporting international customers to integrate inline 6 engine solutions into land vehicles.
  • Assisting in the creation of technical documentation for aftermarket support (ILS).
  • Presenting findings and participating in stakeholder reviews across multiple departments.
  • Liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to share technical insights.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A degree in engineering (2:2 or above) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Background in engine, transmission, or driveline development.
  • Hands-on experience in testing mechanical components or assemblies.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills on complex systems.
  • Proven experience working closely with customers on integration and sign-off processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Flexibility to travel to customer and supplier sites as required.
