This position is ideal for a technically strong engineer with deep expertise in engine component design, particularly major castings such as cylinder heads and cylinder blocks.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a high‑performing Component Engineering team during an exciting period of investment and new product introduction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of Cylinder Heads and Cylinder Blocks for diesel and alternative fuel applications.
  • Deliver full layout architecture through to detailed 3D modelling for cost‑effective, production‑ready solutions.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure designs meet durability, functional and customer requirements.
  • Conduct and lead FMEA activities to identify and mitigate design risks.
  • Plan and manage project and sub‑project deliverables.
  • Generate and lead design reviews to gain stakeholder approval.
  • Develop drawings and technical documentation to required standards for prototype and volume release.
  • Work closely with suppliers using APQP methodology and tools.
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Expert‑level CAD capability (CREO10), including complex geometry and surface modelling of major castings.
  • Strong experience designing cylinder heads and blocks, solid understanding of interacting systems: rotating systems, valvetrain, lubrication, cooling, breather systems, bolted joints & sealing.
  • Strong knowledge of casting and machining processes for complex cast iron components.
  • 4‑6+ years CAD‑based design experience.
  • Strong technical background (HNC, degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent experience).
  • Understanding of component manufacturing and assembly principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within global teams.
  • Self‑motivated with strong planning and delivery capability.
