We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation in Peterborough on an initial 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative engineering projects supporting the development of new products within a specialist Test Facilities Engineering team.
Working on bespoke mechanical designs rather than production components, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions that support engine testing and development programmes.
Key Responsibilities- Design bespoke mechanical components, assemblies and test equipment.
- Support engine test facilities through the design of rigging systems, driveline components and mechanical equipment.
- Produce 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and engineering calculations.
- Take designs from concept through design reviews, customer feedback and into manufacture.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust engineering solutions.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes and future facility developments.
- Strong mechanical engineering background.
- Previous experience using Creo and Teamcenter.
- Excellent understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience producing engineering calculations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Engine test facilities or development environments.
- Automotive, aerospace or heavy engineering industries.
- Knowledge of driveline systems and vibration analysis.
- Engine knowledge (beneficial but not essential).
