Location: Peterborough

Contract: 6 Months (Potential Extension)

Rate: Up to £38.49 per hour / £307.92 per day (Umbrella)

Working Pattern: Full-Time, Onsite

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering and product development environment, supporting engine and powertrain testing programmes within a state-of-the-art test facility. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work on bespoke test rigs, facility upgrades, fault finding, and new product development projects across a wide range of testing applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, test rigs, and facility equipment
  • Support engine and powertrain testing programmes
  • Deliver small to medium-sized engineering projects
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement solutions
  • Produce technical reports and engineering documentation
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams

Essential Skills

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience within test facilities, test cells, validation, or development environments
  • Mechanical engineering background with project delivery experience
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Industry Experience

  • Automotive Engine or Powertrain Testing
  • EV / Battery Testing
  • Aerospace
  • Rail

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
  • Relevant industry experience will also be considered

Working Hours:

Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-4:45pm

Friday: 8:30am-4:15pm
