Material Planner

Location: Desford, Leicestershire Contract: 12 months, likely to extend Rate: £21.88 per hour (Inside IR35) Working pattern: Monday-Friday, fully onsite Start: ASAP

We're looking for a Material Planner to join a busy supply chain team based in Desford.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in material planning, supply chain, logistics, customer service or operations.

Previous Material Planning experience is useful, but not essential - what's most important is that you're analytical, proactive and confident dealing with problems and different stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

Managing material and customer requirements to ensure supply is maintained.

Expediting and de-expediting orders where needed.

Identifying and resolving supply risks before they impact production.

Working with suppliers, customers and internal teams to resolve issues.

Managing backorders and supporting the reduction of premium freight costs.

Analysing data to identify problems and opportunities for improvement.

Supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.

You could be working across inbound supplier supply, internal material transfers or outbound shipments, giving you broad exposure across the wider supply chain.

What we're looking for

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good Excel skills, including lookups and data analysis.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

A proactive approach and ability to work under pressure.

Customer-focused with a strong sense of urgency.

A Lean/continuous improvement mindset.

Power BI, Power Apps, automation, AI or SQL experience would be a bonus but isn't essential.

The role is 5 days a week onsite in Desford, with occasional travel (around 10%) to UK sites/suppliers and potentially Europe.
