We're working with an exciting, fast-growing Telco start-up developing next-generation connectivity solutions across Private 5G, Enterprise Wireless, Open RAN, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), MNO environments and intelligent network automation. They are looking for a Technical Project Director to take senior ownership of the delivery of complex telecom and network programmes, working across engineering, technology partners, customers and internal stakeholders. This is a senior technical leadership position for someone who can operate at both strategic and hands-on delivery level - taking complex requirements, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring solutions are successfully integrated, tested, deployed and accepted.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical leadership across complex telecom and network projects from initiation through to delivery and customer acceptance.
  • Own technical delivery strategy, architecture alignment, engineering dependencies, risks and technical milestones.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across RAN, 4G/5G Core, IP/Transport, RF, Cloud, Edge, Security, DevOps, IoT, AI/ML and OT.
  • Drive multi-vendor integration, technical troubleshooting and resolution of complex delivery issues.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear technical deliverables, plans and outcomes.
  • Lead technical design reviews, integration activities, testing, deployment, ATP/E2E validation and customer acceptance.
  • Act as a senior technical interface between customers, engineering teams, technology partners and suppliers.
  • Provide technical leadership across Private 5G, Enterprise Private Networks, Open RAN, FWA, MNO and industrial connectivity projects.
  • Support the delivery of PoCs, trials, demonstrations and R&D/innovation programmes.
  • Work closely with Project and Programme Management to ensure technical delivery remains aligned with scope, schedule, resources and commercial objectives.
  • Represent the technical function in senior customer meetings, workshops and solution discussions.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years' experience within Telecoms, Network Engineering, Technical Delivery, Systems Integration or a closely related environment.
  • Strong end-to-end understanding of 4G/5G telecom networks and network architecture.
  • Proven experience leading complex technical projects or programmes involving multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience across several of the following: RAN, 5G Core, Private 5G, Open RAN, IP Transport, FWA, RF, Cloud/Edge, Network Automation, IoT or Industrial/OT.
  • Strong multi-vendor integration and technical problem-solving experience.
  • Experience leading and influencing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage at both technical and senior leadership level.
  • Strong commercial and delivery awareness, with the ability to balance technical priorities against project timelines and customer requirements.
  • Experience with major telecom vendors such as Ericsson is advantageous, although multi-vendor experience is preferred.
  • Experience contributing to technical proposals, Statements of Work, PoCs, demonstrations and solution development.
  • Ability to turn complex customer requirements into practical, deliverable technical solutions.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK - sponsorship is not available.

If you're a senior telecom technical leader looking for the opportunity to shape and deliver innovative 5G and network solutions within an exciting start-up environment, we'd love to hear from you.
