The Role
We are looking for an experienced
Solution Architect - API & GCP to join a growing technology team in Edinburgh.
You will play a key role in shaping the architecture and strategic evolution of an API Marketplace platform, working closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders.
This is a great opportunity for an architect with strong
API, cloud-native and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience to have a genuine influence on enterprise technology direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive architectural decisions across the API Marketplace platform.
- Define the strategic technology roadmap alongside product and engineering teams.
- Design scalable, secure and resilient cloud-native solutions using
Google Cloud Platform .
- Lead API architecture and promote best practices around API design, security, lifecycle management and integration.
- Provide technical leadership across architecture forums, governance and design reviews.
Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technology solutions.
- Assess emerging technologies, including
Generative AI , where they can add value.
- Ensure solutions meet key non-functional requirements including security, performance, resilience, scalability and sustainability.
- Influence strategic technology decisions and help shape the future direction of the platform.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience working as a
Solution Architect within API-first, digital platform, marketplace or multi-tenant environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .
- Experience with GCP technologies such as
GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Big Query, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage and Apigee .
- Strong understanding of
RESTful API design, API security, versioning, lifecycle management and API gateways .
- Experience with API management platforms such as
Apigee, Kong, IBM API Connect or Azure API Management .
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, event-driven architecture and domain-driven design .
- Understanding of hybrid cloud, CI/CD, cybersecurity, resilience and sustainability principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to influence architectural strategy and make complex technical recommendations.
