Up to Β£23.94 p/hour
We're looking for a skilled Machining Technician to join a busy research and development workshop supporting both current production and future-focused engineering programmes. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, working with precision components, and being part of a collaborative technical team.
What you'll be doing:
- Producing parts using conventional lathes, milling, grinding and boring machines
- Reading and working from engineering drawings and technical instructions
- Using a range of measuring equipment to ensure quality and accuracy
- Supporting multiple projects and meeting delivery deadlines
- Working safely and following standard quality processes
What we're looking for:
- Proven machining experience (minimum 1 year post-qualification preferred)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with workshop measuring equipment (verniers, gauges, etc.)
- A practical, reliable approach with good teamwork skills
- Basic PC skills (emails, Microsoft Office)
- Desirable (but not essential):
- NVQ Level 3 / Apprenticeship / City & Guilds in Machining or equivalent
- Experience with Mazak 5-axis (Mazatrol Smooth X), FeatureCAM, or Haas (Fanuc control)
- Backgrounds in aerospace, defence or military engineering are welcome
Working pattern:
- 37 hours per week
- Monday-Thursday: 07:00-15:30
- Friday: 07:00-12:00
- Some flexibility available by arrangement
