Role Overview

Senior Product Manager – Authorisation capabilities across acquiring. Lead the strategy and evolution of authorisation platforms, ensuring systems are reliable, efficient and compliant with regulatory and scheme requirements. The role balances approval performance, customer experience and risk while shaping how current and future authorisation platforms are designed and delivered. Work closely with senior stakeholders to guide investment decisions and drive improvements across a high‑volume payments environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction for the specific product portfolio, implementing up‑to‑date methodologies and processes.
  • Manage the product portfolio, including oversight of team performance, implementation of departmental goals and objectives, and ensuring department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, identify relevant parties and maintain the quality of external third‑party services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the portfolio.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate product or portfolio risks, aligning with compliance functions and maintaining risk controls.
  • Monitor financial performance, including revenue, profitability and cost control.
  • Conduct market research to understand trends, competitive landscape and regulatory changes to identify opportunities.
  • Define product strategy, build roadmaps and deliver through cross‑functional teams.
  • Prioritise initiatives based on value, balancing commercial outcomes, risk and customer needs.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, communicating trade‑offs clearly and influencing outcomes.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to legacy and modern authorisation platforms (e.g. ACI, Base24, RS2, in‑house or scheme‑hosted solutions).
  • Experience shaping or contributing to target‑state architecture within large‑scale payment systems.
  • Background in transforming or modernising payments infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with high‑volume, multi‑channel transaction environments.
  • Experience aligning technology decisions with long‑term commercial and operational goals.
