Job Description

To support the implementation of major changes and improvements to the organisation’s IT service management practices by driving strategic initiatives to modernise, transform and future‑prove how the bank delivers and supports technology services.

  • Accountabilities
  • Establish KPIs to measure the success and impact of transformation programmes, actively monitor them, and identify ongoing effectiveness, improvement areas and potential issues.
  • Analyse emerging IT service management tools and platforms to determine their suitability for the bank’s transformation goals and future needs.
  • Manage the selection and seamless implementation of new tools and platforms into the IT service management processes, overseeing migration of data from legacy systems to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
  • Develop and communicate change‑management strategic initiatives, visions and goals through workshops, sessions and various communication channels to highlight the benefits and impact of modernising, transforming and future‑proofing the bank’s technology services.
  • Prioritise the bank’s initiatives based on impact, resource availability and feasibility, and develop and monitor a clear execution plan for each transformation project to ensure successful implementation.

Contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change; plan resources, budgets and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalates breaches of policies or procedures.

If managing a team, define jobs and responsibilities, plan for future needs and operations, counsel employees on performance and contribute to pay decisions or changes, and lead specialists to influence departmental operations in alignment with strategic and tactical priorities while balancing short‑ and long‑term goals and meeting corporate requirements.

For individual contributors, serve as a subject‑matter expert, guide technical direction, lead collaborative assignments, train and coach less experienced specialists, and provide information influencing long‑term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.

Advise key stakeholders, manage and mitigate risks, demonstrate comprehensive organisational understanding, collaborate across functions, create sophisticated analytical solutions, and build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • ITSM Product Owner Responsibilities
  • Own the ITSM platform as a product, ensuring a single integrated system of record that enables automated, scalable service operations aligned with the Tech Ops operating model.
  • Translate the operating model into workflows, automation and tooling embedded into engineering ways of working.
  • Define and deliver Day0 to mature ITSM capability in a greenfield or transformation environment.
  • Maintain the product roadmap and backlog for the platform (e. g., Jira SM, Service Now, BMC Helix).
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Operations leadership to deliver stakeholder value.
  • Engage with cross‑functional teams, influence business objectives through data‑driven decisions, and incorporate research into problem‑solving processes.

Qualifications

  • End‑to‑end ITSM product ownership experience (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, CMDB, Software & Hardware Asset Management, Knowledge).
  • Experience owning an ITSM platform roadmap and backlog (e. g., Jira SM, Service Now, BMC Helix).
  • People‑management experience.
  • Exposure to SRE practices and integration of ITSM with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience building service management for fintech or high‑growth digital platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder‑management skills across Product, Engineering and Operations leadership.
  • Demonstrable risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital technology skills.
  • Location & Work Arrangement

Based in London, with a required office presence of three days per week at 1Churchill Place or 7Westferry Circus (new BPL office).
