To source, attract, recruit and develop talented individuals in support of talent retention across the organisation. This role involves creating and implementing recruitment, development and onboarding strategies that align with the bank’s business objectives.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement recruitment and development strategies and programmes that align with the bank’s business goals, including talent attraction, onboarding and retention.
  • Conduct workforce planning, forecasting and talent needs assessment to anticipate hiring and training requirements.
  • Create compelling job content and training material to engage and retain top talent.
  • Manage onboarding processes for new hires, including orientation sessions and administration to facilitate smooth transition.
  • Monitor and report key recruitment and development metrics, identifying areas for improvement and optimisation.
  • Collaborate with business leaders, talent sourcing and development firms, and professional organisations to build a strong talent pipeline.
  • Report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of BPL and influence strategic initiatives across the organisation.
  • Own the recruitment pipeline, identifying and removing blockers and managing day-rate contractor processes, including IR35 implications.
  • Drive inclusion and diversity across the business, boosting recruitment and retention of women in leadership and building supportive communities.
  • Define, devise and implement a talent and succession strategy and framework aligned to business objectives.
  • Design and deliver a seamless digital onboarding journey for all colleagues.
  • Develop learning and development strategies focused on technical and leadership capability, and manage delivery of learning solutions and compliance programmes.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of talent management and development specialists.
  • Engage, negotiate and manage recruitment and learning suppliers, ensuring alignment to core processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the resourcing and learning budget, seeking cost-efficient solutions and optimisation.

Eligibility and Essential Skills

  • Senior strategic experience working with senior leaders in talent or management development roles.
  • Proven record in designing and implementing leadership development, succession planning and talent management strategies.
  • Engagement and influence at UKET level, with strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Expertise in coaching and mentoring senior managers.
  • People management, resource and supplier management experience.
  • Strategic, cross-functional thinking with a bias for action and implementation.
  • Transformational mindset, flexible and creative, not afraid to think outside the box.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive vision and deliver impact.
  • Proactive drive, capable of delivering initiatives at pace and influencing across all levels.
  • Passion for inclusion and diversity and a culture that enables high performance.

Additional Information

Barclays’ payments acceptance business (BPL) provides critical infrastructure to the UK economy, processing billions of pounds of payments annually. The role is part of a long-term partnership with Brookfield Asset Management to grow and transform the payments acceptance business, with an investment of approximately £400m over the first three years.
