Our client operates two specialist businesses that play a vital role in the UK's infrastructure. Their core operation focuses on large-scale salt mining from a historic Cheshire site, supplying essential materials nationwide. In addition, they run a unique underground document storage facility, safeguarding important records and artefacts within secure mined chambers.
The Role
We are recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our engineering team, supporting the statutory examination, maintenance, repair and installation of a wide range of electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine electrical maintenance and inspections to maximise plant availability
- Respond to breakdowns, diagnosing faults quickly to minimise downtime
- Fault find on a wide range of electrical equipment across underground plant and machinery
- Complete electrical installations and modifications in line with industry and statutory standards
- Provide electrical cover for shaft and surface operations as required
- Undertake cross-skilled tasks including rigging, burning and welding where necessary
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and safe systems of work at all times
- Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations and company procedures
- Support environmental, health and safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities
The Ideal Candidate
About You will be a time-served Electrical Maintenance Technician with a strong background in heavy industrial or mining environments. Comfortable working under pressure, you will have excellent fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
About you:
- Completed a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance within heavy industry
- Experience working on 415V+ electrical systems (essential)
- Strong fault-finding experience on electrical control systems
- Experience with PLCs (preferred but not essential)
- Experience using electrical test and instrumentation equipment
- High Voltage experience (advantageous – training provided)
- Basic IT skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to support additional shift cover when required
